   The Well Dwellers

Life's real swell when ya' dwell at The Well!
How we came to The Well...
"What are those things, baby llamas? Aren't they cute?" I exclaimed to my friend Lynne. We were vacationing in the San Juans,
and were just out for a drive.
"Oh, they're beautiful," she said, "I guess their llamas." Then, we proceeded down a winding road of white wooden
fence posts that led to a pristine white
barn. We parked in front and entered the door marked Krystal Acres Country Store. It was as if we had just walked into
a boutique on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. There were luxuriously soft sweaters, designer coats, gloves, hats and many
more beautiful textiles for purchase. We were quite in awe.
A funny little stuffed animal that looked just like the
live ones outside in the pasture caught my eye. Finally, I asked the shopkeeper, "Are these baby llamas?"
"It's an alpaca from the camelid family, similar to the llama," she replied. I noticed that the clothing and everything else in the
store was made from alpaca. With that revelation, I started asking questions and since then, I haven't stopped.
That was over three summers ago. My husband Robert, my daughter Sarah and I have been on a quest for knowledge about the
magnificent alpaca, ever since. Our experience has made us feel truly blessed to be stewards for these beautiful, gentle
creatures. Although, this lifestyle is a lot of hard work, it is also one of peace and a life well lived.
Well Wishes,
Robert, Debra & Sarah Yancey
